Early 1543, the province was named “Antonia” by Ruy Lopez de Villalobos during its expedition in the Philippines and was inhabited by indigenous natives MunaTo, which means “First People”. The province capital is Alabel and thus MunaTo Festival is celebrated every 28th of November. Other towns are Malungon, Maasim, Kiamba, Maitum, Malapatan and Glan. Sarangani a globally competitive province is now a sought-after tourist destination in Mindanao.

Behind me is the famous Mt. Matutum
On your left, you would be greeted with a wonderful view of Mt. Matutum, peaks and hills and on your right is the overlooking view of the municipality and nearby provinces. Just recently they added a sunflower farm on the side downhill from the main entrance.
Some photo op before the sea of clouds vanish totally.

Emelio A. Alegado Ancestral House was constructed in 1949 by Mr. Alegado himself after the Japanese-American occupation with both Spanish and American architectural influences. Mr. E.A. Alegado was then the first Municipal Mayor of Glan. Take a short visit in his home and you will be fascinated by the intricate calado embroidered walls in the inside and antique collections of the family.
Glan’s historical value makes this town the most interesting place to discover in Sarangani Province aside from its famous white sand beaches.
