Cebu Pacific Air and CebGo Domestic Flights returns to MCIA Terminal 1

TRAVEL ADVISORY

Cebu, Philippines – Domestic flights of Cebu Pacific Air and CebGo will transfer back to Terminal 1 (T1) effective 16 June 2022, 00:01 PST, as Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) experiences a significant traffic growth, with Domestic demand now at 52% of pre-pandemic levels. In 2019, at its peak, MCIA saw a daily average of 25,743 domestic passengers.

Cebu Pacific Air and Cebgo flights departing before 23:59 of June 15, 2022, will still depart from Terminal 2 (T2).

All other domestic departures, such as Philippine Airlines/PAL Express, AirAsia, and AirSwift, will continue in T2 until further notice. These airlines will be transferred together to T1 at a confirmed date at least one (1) month before the transfer takes effect.

All International Arrivals and Departures will continue to operate in T2, while all Domestic Arrivals will continue to operate in T1.

Domestic departing flights were transferred to T2 on January 16, 2022, after T1 needed to be closed for repair due to Typhoon Odette last December 2021. The consolidation of operations turned into an opportunity for domestic passengers to experience travelling through the iconic Terminal 2, which operated before as an international terminal only.

457th Fiesta Señor

#PadayonTaNiño

Amidst the pandemic the devotion to the Child Jesus Señor Sto. Niño de Cebu has remained steadfast and true. This year 2022 is the 457th Fiesta Señor. Celebrated every third (3rd) Sunday of January widely known as the Sinulog. Sinulog Festival in an annual religious and cultural Festival held in Cebu City in honor to Sto. Niño de Cebu. This year theme is “Santo Niño: Our Source of Communion, Life for Mission.” Together with the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu (BMSNCebu), the Cebuanos, the devotees, pilgrims and tourist the #FiestaSeñor2022 will be done virtually due to the increasing threat of Omicron (Covid-19) variant. There will be no physical masses that are open to the general public even on the Feast Day as announced by BMSNCebu. Novena Masses are done inside the Basilica and streamed online via its social media flatform – Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter. This year fiesta is dubbed as #PadayonTaNiño which is a Cebuano term means “Lets Continue with Sto. Niño” despite the recent #OdettePH (Tropical Cylone Rai) which devastated Cebu and its province, the devotion and faith of the Cebuanos remains true.

Pista ng Pamana

Join us at PISTA NG PAMANA this May 27-June 2, 2019! The HUB Make Lab family initiates and invites you to take part and take pride in this heartfelt showcase of the many rich facets of Filipino heritage—from art, literature, design, architecture, music, performance, food, fashion and celebration!

The historic commercial district of Escolta functions as an inclusive access point and a living case study of how modern urban lifestyle affects our cultural heritage. As everyday stakeholders of Escolta and conceptualizers and former organizers of Escolta Block Party, we asked ourselves: how do we make the appreciation of Philippine Heritage more meaningful and relatable to a broader audience? How do we bring the focus of people back to it and deepen its meaning to our audience at Escolta events? The end result is the PISTA NG PAMANA celebrations which is a heritage-first celebration that we plan to organise annually.

As heritage is enriched through a cycle of understanding, valuing, preserving and enjoyment, our community of makers and artists cultivate this cycle through exhibits, performances, screenings, talks and workshops.

After three years that the HUB Make Lab has opened, we are broadening the view beyond our neighbourhood. Our aim for PISTA NG PAMANA is to make celebrations in the neighbourhood more meaningful, educational, and to be a beacon for future generations, highlighting the importance of preserving our country’s tangible and intangible treasures. All together, we at the HUB Make Lab believe, these serve as the foundation for rebuilding and strengthening the Filipino spirit.

This celebration is a free public event which gathers experts and enthusiasts of different practices. It is a toast to the third anniversary of our maker community—HUB Make Lab, and a complement to the NCCA’s lineup of activities in museums, galleries, universities, and government institutions.

Celebrate with Escolta, the queen of Manila streets, and the HUB Make Lab as we close National Heritage Month in style – #letsshapeourculture, #letsmakeitmeaningful, and #letsmakeourhistory together!

Sinulog 2019

The Sinulog festival is one of the grandest and most vibrant festivals in the Philippines with a very rich history. Named as the Mother of all Festivals the Sinulog is held each year on the third Sunday of January in Cebu City to honor the Santo Niño, or the Child Jesus, who used to be the patron saint of the whole province of Cebu. It is a dance ritual which remembers the Filipino people’s pagan past and their acceptance of Christianity. The dance moves two steps forward and one step backward to the sound of the drums, this resembles the current (sulog) of what was then known as Cebu’s Pahina River. 2018 Pintados Kasadyaan Festival Winners

Sto. Niño Patron Saint of Leyte. Come June 27-29 visit the province of Leyte as they celebrate their festival of festivals dubbed as Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival. Kasadyaan Festival in the province of Leyte is one of the most anticipated festivals in the country. The festival give homage to the Sto. Niño.

“Kasadyaan” means merriment in the vernacular language. The highlight of the event are the presentations and different activities prepared by the locals in forms of dances and songs to re-tell Leyte’s famous folklores and legend.

Pintados Festival recalls pre-colonial occupations, war and colonization of the Spaniards in the province of Leyte and Samar. The festival aims to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Leytenos through songs and dance presentations. The grandeur of the festival is that participants of the festival would be wearing a painted face and body to resemble the old warriors. They would then go to the streets of Tacloban City.

Ever wonder why it was called Pintados? It was during Spanish colonization that they are surprised when they arrived in the shores of Leyte to witnessed heavily tattooed men and women. To their surprise they then labelled them as “Pintados”. It was believe the natives have their own beliefs, culture and religion. When the missionaries arrived in year 1888 along with the image of the Child Jesus, the Sto. Niño which the refer as the “El Capitan” they then penetrated the old religious belief to what is it now known as Christian.

As the time progress and develop in the province of Leyte, the Pintados tribe are no anymore physically visible in the province, but the tattoo will always be marked as their rich cultural and historical heritage which is a symbol of heroism, courage and bravery.

Come June 27, 2018 the festival of festivals will be witnessed in the streets of Tacloban and dance rituals will follow in Leyte Sports Development Center at 2:00pm. This festival shouldn’t be missed by any festival inclined individual. You will not only be thrilled and wowed by what you will witnessed by their artistic and creative presentation. The Pintados Kasadyaan Festival now is not anymore a little merrymaking, but it has become a way of commemorating how the Leytenos progressed into who and what they are today.
